Care group 06/06

Hi all, it has been a long time since I last updated this blog. Everyone was and still is so occupied serving God in various ministries. Let me just start off with the NEW items of our CG! First of all, I proudly present you our new guitarist, JEFFREY!!! He played guitar for today's praise and worship session for the very first time. Thank God for his talent, he played it perfectly well! Also, our CG no longer has to torture the wall by peeling off the paint bit by bit every week as a consequence of patching blue tag on it every time during praise and worship session  ;because we finally have a whiteboard! Hehe, it's much neater now .

During the bible sharing, we had pastor Kenawang shared with us about How we can trust in the Lord for His provision at the right time. It was a great discussion and I hoped that everyone had a fruitful time listening to it and extend our faith towards God!

Last but not least, we had our special refreshment, as we took this opportunity to present pastor Kenawang a cake! It's his birthday! Other than the cake, we had durians as well, yes, DURIANS, it was fresh from the orchard of my room mate.Yum, too bad Michelle and Pik Joo missed out this time, never mind, maybe next week he will bring more

Anyway here are the photos taken from the CG just now, we had a really enjoyable time ministering with God and one another, CG is fun!

Let's pray together for God shower to us more anointing and we want to see our lives will be transformed by God. I'm so encouraged and refreshed by God last Saturday night, that night I decided to seek God and spent some time in prayer. CG 21/3

It was raining again, but it is OK, the atmosphere of the CG is still very warm . Well, some highlights about CG today is that...RK lead us in praise and worship for the first time! Well done bro! Keep it up, you did well .

The bible sharing of the day was led by PJ, it was very interesting as she started the sharing with a crossword puzzle, we were divided into 2 groups, me and Ps. Ken one group, Mic, LB and RK the other group. We were given a short frame of time to complete the puzzle, it was hard, but thank God, God sent angels to helped us! ( The other group were too excited when they found and answer, therefore we could here the answer ....) It was a great way to start a sharing, well done PJ! The theme of the day, of course is a revision of what Pastor Laurence had preached on Sunday, Finish the race...complete the task.

During our sharing, we discussed about what are the reasons that we usually have to make us can't finish a tasks. Well, it was a very easy one, because everyone just can't stop giving answers! The answers that we gave were...not enough of resources, not enough time, not enough sleep, not enough trainings....blah blah blah....not enough this, not enough that....well...these answers were not what PJ wanted us to answer! Did you realized that all the answers that we had given just now were all pointing the fault to other people? Come on! Let's start thinking of ourselves, what are the reasons that we can't finish a task, the reason must come from your self, not blaming on other people....

Well, this round, our answers were...hard to communicate with other people, not humble enough to ask for other people's help when needed, being too perfectionist, afraid to fail and like to compare with other people's achievements. Are you one of this kind of person?

After the sharing, we had a surprised birthday cake for our dear CG leader Mic, we sang a birthday song for her and she blew the candles, it was nice . After that we had video conference with Daniel, Lee Suan and Yee Ern again, this time everyone get to speak to them, yeah! Yee Ern got a new toy, a baby kitchen, and guess what...Lee Suan got if for only 6USD from a garage sale! Isn't it great?

OK, so that's all for this time, see you again soon!

Mission Sunday

Date : 18-03-2007
Venue : Hope Place Penang
Time : 10:30am to 12:30pm

Today's Sunday service was special one as it's our mission Sunday which we usually have it twice in a quarter. The theme for this mission Sunday was " Finish the race....complete the task."

Before our dear pastor Laurence starts his preaching, he showed us a short video clip, it is called the 10/40 window. So what does this 10/40 window means?10/40 means the temperature of between 10C to 40C, so 10/40 window is about the countries which has the temperature of between 10/40 Celsius, which is the center region of our earth. ( look at the picture for a more detailed understanding). So why are we talking about this 10/40 window? Well, this region has the most unreach people in the world, some of the cities in this area even never has a church before!

So the scripture from the bible of the day is 2 Timothy 4: 6-8, " 6 For I am being already pour out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.  7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is install for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award me on that day - and not only me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing."

These are the points taken out from what our pastor has preached.

1. Give it everything you've got, v6
The Americans always like to say this, especially in movies. Paul submitted to God's will, he gave his life fully to God, he takes his death penalty as a giving to God. God calls Christians to fulfill the  great commission, therefore, we must give ourselves fully to God so that we can fulfill the great commission. Many people think that it is OK just to give part of our life to God, but Paul did not think so. To plant a church, we need to submit to God and do it joyfully, like Paul. The great commission only can be fulfilled when people submit and be obedient to God.
1a.. Submit to God's will, v6a
Everything starts with a small response at first.
1b.. Sense of urgency, v6b
Time is short, time flies, time will catch up on us, so, the time is NOW!

2. Finish the work completely, v7
Paul finish his work completely, with no regrets, no looking back, just like Jesus. He lives a way just to complete the work.
2a.. A fighter, v7a
We are called to fight a good fight, when you are down, get up, get up and beat the devil down! Paul had the ability to get up and fight.
2b.. A runner.
A runner always finishes the race, have you ever seen a runner who started the race but never wanted to finish the race? A runner always has to stay on the right track to be a winner, because if a runner run out of his track, he will be disqualified! So, you and I need to stay in the course, don't give up, keep going! The distance is long, but there IS a finishing line!
2c.. A manager, v7c
God has given you a lot, gifts, spiritual gifts. Therefore, use it to glorify God, use it for God. Maybe our role might be small now, but we are important, everyone is important, imagine this, can you cut off your little finger? No! You can't! Because all your fingers are important to you, even your little finger! So everyone of us are important! The training of a church planter starts from a CG!

3 Eagerly anticipate the reward, v8
When I finish the race, I know what I want to get, for example, if I have just finished a marathon, I know I will want to get a drink on 100Plus. When you work, you know that you will be rewarded with bonus, increment... You have confidence that you will get the rewards, so waiting in anticipation.
3a.. Seek for heavenly reward, v8a
If you start investing today, start investing in the kingdom of God, then we can anticipate the reward in heaven! We don't just live this life to get increment, get married, get bonus, get a house... but we are born to complete the great commission!
